roots from the base of the stem
Bark grey to dark brown in clour, grooved,
fissured along the long axis of the trunk
Leaves simple, alternate, 1.5-4.5 x 0.8-1.5
cm, obovate or ovate-elliptic, coriaceous, rounded to emarginate
apex, cuneate at base
Inflorescence spike, 2 - 3 cm long terminal
Flowers 10-12 mm long, red, shortly pedicelled
in terminal racemes
Calyx 5 lobes, green in colour
Stamens less than 10, much longer than
petals
Fruit 9-12 mm long, ellipsoid-oblong,
longitudinally ribbed, Vase-shaped, yellowish green in colour.
